Summary

In his Toyota Kata books, Mike Rother revealed the powerful pattern of scientific thinking and experiment based ways of working embedded at Toyota.  This habitual pattern of thinking empowers every Toyota employee, from the factory floor to the most senior executives, to automatically think about how to improve their work in alignment with specific outcomes.

The good news is that for us to use this same pattern of thinking, it isn’t something extra a manager has to do on top of their very busy schedule.  Instead it’s a way of thinking that naturally becomes a daily habit making it easier to manage the existing work.

This pattern of scientific thinking and working, significantly reduces a manager’s time spent firefighting, in unstructured meetings, needing to constantly reclarify due to miscommunication (typically from a barrage of email ping-pong) and unnecessary problem solving.

So what’s the fastest way for time-poor managers to understand and immediately start to use this pattern of scientific thinking?  Better still, how do managers get the confidence to train their staff so there’s momentum to quickly become a habit?

Answer: A risk-free, interactive simulation to practice the pattern of scientific thinking is guaranteed to give you the fast track. To learn by doing.  Not reading pages and pages of theory, nor sitting through hours of PowerPoint.  Learning by doing is by far the fastest way to pick up new skills and thinking patterns plus simultaneously gain the confidence that it will work for you.  You can take these skills back to work and begin integrating them straight away!

We use a simple simulation scenario, so you can focus on learning the steps of the scientific pattern of thinking.  In this workshop small groups will try to assemble a jigsaw puzzle within the shortest time possible.  With each attempt, participants record observations, reflect on what they learned, set another hypothesis and try another experiment.

See One – Do One – Teach One.  In this way you will instantly see the scientific thinking pattern being applied, practice it and then have the confidence to share it with others.

This Kanban Accelerated Delivery (KAD) workshop, KAD Lean Kata Simulation Facilitator is to train the trainer.  It is for leaders that want to fast-track their learning and also receive a simulation kit they can use in their workplace as a simulation facilitator to coach other managers.

KAD Lean Kata Simulation Facilitator is serious professional development, but it’s also seriously fun!
